Extractions
Sometimes, teeth need to be removed due to decay, disease, or trauma. When you get a tooth "pulled" it's called an extraction. Naturally, changes will occur in your mouth after the procedure, and we will offer you treatment options to replace that missing tooth. Conscious sedation is offered for these procedures.
Fixed Bridges
A dental bridge offers a highly effective, stable, and fixed solution for replacing missing teeth. Unlike removable partial dentures that clasp onto the remaining teeth, a dental bridge relies on the support of crowns attached to teeth adjacent to the edentulous area (space without teeth) or strategically placed dental implants
Fillings
A filling or bonding is a conservative way to repair teeth with caries, slightly chipped, discolored, or crooked teeth. A white filling is placed onto a tooth to improve its appearance. The filling “bonds” with your teeth and comes in various tooth-colored shades to match the appearance of your natural teeth.
Cleanings
In routine dental cleanings, hygienists use specialized tools to eliminate plaque and tartar above the gum line, vital for preventing and managing gingivitis. Cleaning types, like prophylaxis, scaling/root planning, and gross debridement, cater to varying oral health needs. Recommended biannually, these cleanings can be more frequent for those with periodontal issues.
Routine Exams
Regular checkups, which should be done every six months, are essential to maintaining oral health. They help find initial problems such as caries, gum disease, etc. They include x-rays, a clinical exam, and basic teeth cleaning. The doctor will explain if further dental treatment is recommended based on her diagnosis.
Crowns
Crowns are a cosmetic restoration used to strengthen or improve a tooth's shape. Crowns are often used for teeth broken, worn, or partially destroyed by tooth decay. Crowns are cemented onto an existing tooth and fully cover the portion of your tooth above the gum line. Crowns can be made of porcelain, metal, or both. Porcelain crowns are most often preferred
Veneers
Veneers are custom-made shells crafted from tooth-colored materials such as porcelain. They are designed to cover the front surface of teeth. With veneers, you can easily correct your teeth to help you have a more confident, beautiful smile. Veneers are natural in appearance and are a perfect option for patients wanting to make minor adjustments to the look and feel of their smile.
Complete Dentures
Dentures are natural-looking removable replacement teeth. Full dentures are given to patients when all natural teeth have been removed. Conventional full dentures are placed after the gum tissue has healed. Immediate full dentures are placed immediately after the teeth have been removed (may require frequent adjustments).
Removable Partial Dentures
A removable partial denture is a denture for a partially edentulous patient who desires replacement teeth for functional or aesthetic reasons and who cannot have a bridge for any reason. This prosthesis is a removable partial denture because patients can remove and reinsert it when required without professional help.
Whitening
Improving the appearance of your smile can make a difference in your confidence and overall quality of life. Teeth whitening or bleaching refers to any process that will make the teeth appear whiter. There's an abundance of choices available to you. We will evaluate your needs and recommend the ideal treatment for you.
Overdentures
Or Snap-on dentures are any removable dental prosthesis that covers and rests on one or more roots of natural teeth or dental implants so that they can be either tooth-supported or implant-supported. Implant-supported overdentures are a type of removable denture connected to dental implants.
All on four
It is a long-lasting solution for rebuilding a complete, naturally beautiful & functional smile. Four strategically placed implants to securely support a full set of upper or lower teeth. Treatment and recovery time are greatly reduced with this option, and it is more comfortable than traditional dentures; they don't fall or slip. Plus, there is no need for denture adhesive!
Valplasts
Valplast® removable partial dentures are custom-made appliances that are generally affordable and require only a short time to make. Valplast® is available to provide patients with comfortable, lightweight, and metal-free partial dentures. Valplast® Partials are also highly aesthetic and virtually invisible, so nobody has to know you are missing any natural teeth.
Occlusal Guards
Also referred to as a nightguard, bite guard, or bite splint, an occlusal guard is a removable appliance that fits over your upper or lower teeth. It helps prevent damage to your teeth that can be caused by grinding and clenching, a destructive oral habit also known as bruxism.
Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer screening is an examination performed by a dentist or doctor to look for signs of cancer or precancerous conditions in your mouth. The goal of oral cancer screening is to identify mouth cancer early, when there is a greater chance for a cure
Clear Aligners
Clear aligners are often an excellent option for teeth straightening and can optimize your dental health. Getting your teeth straightened with clear aligners is suitable for both your smile and your dental health. These work by gradually moving the teeth into the correct position, and are great for those with crooked teeth, crowded teeth, gapped or spaced teeth, an overbite, open bite, underbite, or crossbite.
Laser Therapy
Laser dental cleaning can remove infected tissue along the gum line and restore gums to total health. However, it is also a much less invasive procedure that most patients find much more comfortable than traditional periodontal cleaning. Laser gum surgery is a modern alternative where light energy is used to improve oral health and your smile. It kills bacteria and stimulates bone growth around your teeth.
Dental Implants
An implant is a synthetic tooth root in the shape of a post that is surgically placed into the jawbone. The "root" is usually made of titanium, the same material used in many replacement hips and knees, and a metal well-suited to pairing with human bone. The tooth can be either permanently attached or removable. Implants are versatile. If you only miss one tooth, one implant plus one replacement tooth will do the trick.

About Us
Dr. Alba Dugarte
Dr. Alba Dugarte is originally from Venezuela and is a dual trained prosthodontist. She earned her DDS degree from Universidad de Los Andes, Venezuela in 2003. In 2007 she completed her MSD and Specialty in Prosthodontics at Universidad Central de Venezuela where she worked as a part-time faculty and in private practice for four years.
In 2011 she moved to USA to pursue her Postdoctoral Certificate in Prosthodontics at NOVA Southeastern University in Florida. In 2014 she moved to Houston, Tx and she has been working in private practice since that time. Also, in January 2017 she joined the School of Dentistry at The University of Texas in Houston as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics where she has been teaching for 5 years and serving as the Prosthodontic Preceptorship Program Director.
She combines her private practice with academia and enjoys her free time with her family. She is happily married with two daughters, Natalia and Victoria, that keeps her busy out of the dental field, and she enjoys traveling and being with her family.
